Integration guide

How Marketplacer and Shopify work together

Why?

The Marketplacer + Shopify integration connects Marketplacer powered marketplaces with Shopify so marketplace activity can be managed alongside your normal Shopify operations.

Target

It is designed for merchants that sell on Marketplacer marketplaces and use Shopify to manage their catalogue, orders and fulfilment. Marketplace orders can be brought into Shopify, while fulfilment updates, stock changes and refunds can be sent back to Marketplacer.

Benefits

This helps teams centralise order processing, reduce manual copy-paste, keep marketplace availability accurate and make customer service easier across both systems.

Data flows

What moves between the apps

Primary sync path

Marketplacer is the source for marketplace orders. The integration checks Marketplacer every 15 minutes and looks back over the last 2 hours of orders, then creates the corresponding orders in Shopify. Manual import is also available for testing, backfills or support investigations.

Shopify is the source for stock, fulfilment and refund activity. When inventory changes, fulfilments are created or refunds are recorded in Shopify, the related updates are sent to Marketplacer in near real time.

Product matching is based on Shopify product information, typically SKUs, with an optional barcode matching mode for order imports. Stock updates can use all Shopify locations or be limited to selected locations when needed.

FAQ

Common questions

How often are Marketplacer orders imported into Shopify?

The order import runs every 15 minutes and checks the last 2 hours of Marketplacer orders. Manual import is also available for testing, backfills and support investigations.

Can products be matched by barcode instead of SKU?

Yes. The order import can be configured to match Shopify products by variant barcode instead of SKU. This is useful when your marketplace catalogue uses EAN, UPC, GTIN or similar barcode values.

Why did Shopify stock go down when a Marketplacer order was imported?

The order import has an inventory behaviour setting. By default, Shopify inventory is claimed when the order is created, even if this temporarily allows negative stock.

How quickly are tracking, stock and refund updates sent to Marketplacer?

These workflows are event-based and normally run in near real time when the relevant Shopify fulfilment, inventory or refund event happens.

Why was a tracking update not sent to Marketplacer?

The Shopify fulfilment must contain usable shipping information and must be linked to a Marketplacer order that can be found. If the original order cannot be matched, the update may need manual review.

How do filters and options affect stock updates?

If no Shopify locations are specified, stock can be read from all locations. If specific locations are configured, only those locations are used, which is safer when not every warehouse can fulfil Marketplacer orders.
