Integration guide

How DocMorris and Shopify Plus work together

Why?

The DocMorris + Shopify integration connects marketplace operations with your Shopify store. It imports DocMorris orders into Shopify and sends fulfilment, stock, refund, and product-content updates back to DocMorris or Medpex.

Target

It is designed for brands and retailers that use Shopify as their operational hub while selling through DocMorris or Medpex. Teams can process marketplace orders alongside other Shopify orders and avoid entering the same information in both systems.

Benefits

The integration helps keep inventory and customer-facing order updates aligned, while also supporting the creation and maintenance of marketplace product content from Shopify data, images, mappings, and metafields.

Data flows

What moves between the apps

Primary sync path

DocMorris is the source of truth for marketplace orders. Every 15 minutes, the integration checks the previous 2 hours of orders and creates matching orders in Shopify. A manual import is also available for testing, backfills, or support investigations.

Shopify is the operational source for fulfilment, stock, and refunds. Relevant Shopify events are processed in near real time: shipment tracking is returned to DocMorris, inventory changes update the DocMorris stock feed, and refunds on linked orders are sent back with the configured cancellation reason.

Shopify is also the source for DocMorris / Medpex product content. Ongoing product changes can be submitted automatically, while the catalogue import lets users select variants and submit content requests manually.

Workflows

Automated workflows

Automated workflow

Import DocMorris Orders into Shopify

DIRECTION DocMorris → Shopify

The workflow checks DocMorris for recent orders every 15 minutes. It matches the customer and order items, then creates a tagged Shopify order for fulfilment.

TRIGGER

Every 15 minutes, checking the previous 2 hours of orders; manual import is available.

Automated workflow

Tracking updates from Shopify to DocMorris

DIRECTION Shopify → DocMorris

When a linked DocMorris order is fulfilled in Shopify, the workflow identifies the original marketplace order, checks that the fulfilment is relevant, matches the carrier, and sends the tracking number to DocMorris.

TRIGGER

Near real time when a relevant Shopify fulfilment is created or updated.

Automated workflow

Stock updates from Shopify to DocMorris

DIRECTION Shopify → DocMorris

When inventory changes in Shopify, the workflow reads stock from the configured Shopify locations and updates the DocMorris stock feed.

Near real time when Shopify inventory changes.

Automated workflow

Refund updates from Shopify to DocMorris

DIRECTION Shopify → DocMorris

When a linked DocMorris order is refunded in Shopify, the workflow finds the corresponding marketplace order and submits the refund to DocMorris.

TRIGGER

Near real time when a refund is created in Shopify.

Automated workflow

Ongoing product content updates from Shopify to DocMorris / Medpex

DIRECTION Shopify → DocMorris / Medpex

When relevant Shopify product data changes, the workflow prepares a new or updated DocMorris / Medpex content request using the configured defaults, mappings, images, and enrichment metafields.

TRIGGER

Near real time when a relevant Shopify product changes.

Automated workflow

Catalog content import from Shopify to DocMorris / Medpex

DIRECTION Shopify → DocMorris / Medpex
DATA variants → products

TRIGGER

Manual, when selected Shopify variants are submitted for catalogue content import.

Reliability

Monitoring, failure handling and manual replay

Synchron focuses on operational visibility after the sale: logs, error context, monitoring and replay where supported. Read about trust and reliability.

Failure handling

  • Configured transfers are monitored with workflow logs and error context so teams can see which record failed and why.
  • Failures commonly need the underlying issue corrected first, such as credentials, permissions, product matching, order state, carrier data or a marketplace API response.
  • Where the workflow supports it, corrected transfers can be replayed or manually re-run instead of starting the whole process from scratch.

Manual replay

  • Manual import is useful during onboarding, backfills, support checks and controlled reprocessing of specific records.
  • Replay still depends on correcting the underlying issue first, such as product matching, credentials, permissions or invalid source data.

FAQ

Common questions

How often does the integration run?

Orders are checked every 15 minutes across a rolling 2-hour window. Tracking, stock, refunds, and ongoing product changes are processed in near real time when relevant Shopify events occur. Catalogue content import is manual.

Why is a DocMorris order missing from Shopify?

Check that the order falls within the recent order window, both connections are valid, and its products can be matched. A manual import can be used to reprocess a recent order.

What happens when a product cannot be matched?

The affected order or update may be skipped or fail. Confirm that the same barcode or SKU is present in both systems and that the order-import matching option reflects the identifier you maintain.

Why was tracking not sent to DocMorris?

The fulfilment must belong to an order previously imported from DocMorris and must contain a usable tracking number. The Shopify carrier also needs to match a courier accepted by the connected DocMorris account.

Why is a stock update missing?

Review the selected Shopify locations and the excluded-products list. An empty location setting uses all locations, while excluded product identifiers are deliberately ignored.

Why was a refund not sent?

The Shopify order must remain linked to its original DocMorris order, and the configured cancellation reason must be valid for the DocMorris account.
