How Shopify Plus and Sellsy work together

The Shopify + Sellsy V2 integration connects your Shopify store with your Sellsy account so that sales, refunds and stock levels stay aligned between the two systems. Shopify remains your ecommerce front-end, while Sellsy handles invoicing and, if you choose, stock management.

With this integration, paid Shopify orders are turned into invoices in Sellsy, Shopify refunds generate matching credit notes, and stock movements recorded in Sellsy can update Shopify inventory. This reduces manual work and the risk of errors between your online store and your back-office tools.

It is designed for merchants who sell online with Shopify and manage invoicing and/or inventory in Sellsy. Key benefits include avoiding re-typing orders, keeping stock in sync, and reducing mistakes in invoicing and refunds.

Data flows

Core sync directions

  • From Shopify to Sellsy (sales & refunds) Paid Shopify orders are imported into Sellsy as invoices. When orders are refunded in Shopify, corresponding credit notes are created in Sellsy so your accounting stays up to date. Shopify is the source of truth for orders and refunds, while Sellsy is where you follow up with invoices and credit notes.
  • From Sellsy to Shopify (stock levels) Stock movements in Sellsy are used to update available inventory in Shopify. Sellsy acts as the stock “master”, and Shopify reflects the latest sellable quantities.
  • Orders → Invoices (Shopify → Sellsy) Runs on a schedule every 15 minutes, looking back over the last 3 hours of orders. You can also trigger a manual import to backfill or test specific periods.
  • Refunds → Credit notes (Shopify → Sellsy) Runs on a schedule every 30 minutes, looking back over the last 2 hours of refunds. A manual import is also available.
  • Stock movements → Inventory (Sellsy → Shopify) Runs on a schedule every hour, looking back over the last hour of stock changes in Sellsy. There is no manual import for stock.
  • Customers: The integration attempts to match Shopify customers with existing Sellsy customers. When no match is found, new customers can be created in Sellsy from Shopify data.
  • Products & SKUs: Product matching relies on the Shopify SKU. To avoid errors for invoices, credit notes and stock updates, ensure all Shopify products have valid SKUs that match the corresponding products in Sellsy.
