Integration guide

How Zalando and Shopify Plus work together

Why?

The Zalando + Shopify integration connects your Zalando merchant account with Shopify so that marketplace orders can be handled through your existing Shopify operations.

Target

Zalando orders are imported into Shopify, while stock and fulfillment tracking updates are sent from Shopify back to Zalando. This helps reduce duplicate data entry, keep product availability aligned and centralize day-to-day order fulfillment in Shopify.

Benefits

It is designed for brands and retailers that sell on Zalando and use Shopify to manage orders, inventory and fulfillment.

Data flows

What moves between the apps

Primary sync path

Zalando is the source of marketplace orders. New Zalando orders are checked every 15 minutes, using a two-hour lookback window, and imported into Shopify. A manual import is also available for testing, backfills or support investigations.

Shopify is the operational source for stock and fulfillment updates. Inventory changes are sent to Zalando in near real time when relevant Shopify events occur. Fulfillment and tracking information is also sent to Zalando in near real time when a Zalando order is fulfilled in Shopify.

Product matching depends on consistent product identifiers, particularly Shopify SKUs. Keeping SKUs complete and consistent helps the integration match order lines and stock records correctly.

Reliability

Monitoring, failure handling and manual replay

Synchron focuses on operational visibility after the sale: logs, error context, monitoring and replay where supported. Read about trust and reliability.

Failure handling

  • Configured transfers are monitored with workflow logs and error context so teams can see which record failed and why.
  • Failures commonly need the underlying issue corrected first, such as credentials, permissions, product matching, order state, carrier data or a marketplace API response.
  • Where the workflow supports it, corrected transfers can be replayed or manually re-run instead of starting the whole process from scratch.

Manual replay

  • Manual import is useful during onboarding, backfills, support checks and controlled reprocessing of specific records.
  • Replay still depends on correcting the underlying issue first, such as product matching, credentials, permissions or invalid source data.

Use cases

When to use this connector

  • When Shopify is your main system for processing and fulfilling marketplace orders.
  • When your warehouse or fulfillment team already works from Shopify.
  • When customer service teams need Zalando order details available in Shopify.
  • When you want to avoid managing Zalando orders separately from your other Shopify sales channels.
  • When Zalando orders are fulfilled from Shopify.
  • When your warehouse or fulfillment provider records shipment information in Shopify.
  • When you want tracking updates to reach Zalando automatically after fulfillment.
  • When an order may be fulfilled in separate groups of order lines.
  • When Shopify holds the inventory quantities that should be available for sale on Zalando.
  • When stock changes frequently because of sales, restocking or warehouse adjustments.
  • When the same inventory pool is shared across Shopify and marketplace channels.
  • When you want to reduce manual stock updates and the risk of overselling.

FAQ

Common questions

How often are Zalando orders imported?

The order workflow runs every 15 minutes and checks the previous two hours for relevant Zalando orders. Manual import is also available when an order needs to be tested or reprocessed.

How quickly are stock and tracking updates sent to Zalando?

Stock and tracking workflows are event-driven and normally run in near real time when the relevant change happens in Shopify.

Why is a Zalando order missing from Shopify?

First check that both connections are valid and that the order falls within the normal import process. Also confirm that the Shopify products and variants involved have valid, consistent SKUs. If needed, use the manual import to test or reprocess the order.

What happens if a product cannot be matched?

The integration relies on consistent product identifiers, particularly Shopify SKUs. Missing or inconsistent SKUs can prevent items from being matched and may cause the affected order or stock update to require investigation.

Why was tracking not sent to Zalando?

Confirm that the Shopify fulfillment belongs to the corresponding Zalando order and contains the shipment information needed for the update. Tracking updates are only sent from Shopify to Zalando.

Are there workflow filters or settings I need to configure?

No workflow-specific settings are defined for these three workflows. Their behaviour is determined by the configured connections, the direction of each workflow and whether the required orders, products, fulfillments and inventory records can be matched.
