Integration guide

How Fruugo and Shopify work together

Why?

The Fruugo + Shopify integration connects Fruugo marketplace operations with Shopify, allowing merchants to use Shopify as their main operational back office. It supports order import, fulfilment updates, inventory, pricing, catalogue maintenance, cancellations and returns.

Target

It is designed for retailers selling physical products on Fruugo who want to reduce manual work and keep marketplace activity aligned with their Shopify processes. Teams can handle Fruugo orders in Shopify, keep listings and availability updated, and send order status changes back to Fruugo.

Benefits

Fruugo processes many requests asynchronously. Synchron.io therefore waits for Fruugo’s later response before treating an order, shipment, product update, cancellation or return as completed.

Data flows

What moves between the apps

Primary sync path

New Fruugo orders are requested every 15 minutes, covering the previous 2 hours. Fruugo returns the order data through a later callback, after which the corresponding order is created in Shopify. Manual order import is also available for testing, historical imports and support investigations.

Shopify is the operational source for fulfilment, stock, prices, catalogue data, cancellations and returns. Relevant Shopify events are sent to Fruugo in near real time, while catalogue submissions are started manually. Fruugo then returns the final result asynchronously.

Reliable product identifiers are important throughout the integration. Shopify SKUs and stored Fruugo references are used to match order lines, products and variants before updates are sent.

Workflows

Automated workflows

Automated workflow

Request Fruugo Orders for Shopify Import

DIRECTION Fruugo → Shopify

Synchron.io requests recent Fruugo orders, waits for Fruugo to return the order data, and then creates the corresponding orders in Shopify. Customer and product information is matched before creation, and missing Shopify products can be created when that option is enabled.

TRIGGER

Scheduled every 15 minutes, checking the last 2 hours; manual import is available.

Automated workflow

Tracking updates from Shopify to Fruugo

DIRECTION Shopify → Fruugo

When a Fruugo-origin order is fulfilled in Shopify, Synchron.io sends shipment quantities, tracking references and carrier information to Fruugo. Partial fulfilments can be handled using the quantities fulfilled in Shopify.

TRIGGER

Runs in near real time when a relevant Shopify fulfilment occurs.

Automated workflow

Stock updates from Shopify to Fruugo

DIRECTION Shopify → Fruugo

When inventory changes in Shopify, Synchron.io sends the updated available quantity for the matched item to Fruugo. Shopify can therefore act as the operational source of truth for marketplace stock.

TRIGGER

Runs in near real time when Shopify inventory changes.

Automated workflow

Price updates from Shopify to Fruugo

DIRECTION Shopify → Fruugo

Synchron.io sends relevant Shopify product or variant price changes to the matched Fruugo listing. This allows merchants to manage normal selling prices in Shopify while keeping Fruugo aligned.

TRIGGER

Runs in near real time when a Shopify product or variant price changes.

Automated workflow

Product and catalogue updates from Shopify to Fruugo

DIRECTION Shopify → Fruugo

Synchron.io sends Shopify product and variant data to Fruugo to create or maintain marketplace listings. Supported information can include SKUs, titles, descriptions, images, categories, attributes, identifiers, prices and stock-related product fields.

TRIGGER

Started manually for catalogue submissions.

Automated workflow

Cancellations and returns from Shopify to Fruugo

DIRECTION Shopify → Fruugo
DATA refunds and cancellations → returns and cancellations

For Fruugo-origin orders, Synchron.io sends eligible cancellations and returns processed in Shopify back to Fruugo. Full and partial quantities can be mapped to the original Fruugo order lines.

TRIGGER

Runs in near real time when a relevant Shopify cancellation, refund or return occurs.

Automated workflow

Fruugo API Callback

DIRECTION Fruugo → Shopify
DATA asynchronous responses → workflow results

This supporting workflow receives Fruugo’s later responses for order requests, confirmations, shipments, product updates, cancellations, returns and errors. It matches each response to the pending operation and allows that operation to continue or complete.

TRIGGER

Runs in near real time when Fruugo sends an asynchronous response.

Reliability

Monitoring, failure handling and manual replay

Synchron focuses on operational visibility after the sale: logs, error context, monitoring and replay where supported. Read about trust and reliability.

Failure handling

  • Configured transfers are monitored with workflow logs and error context so teams can see which record failed and why.
  • Failures commonly need the underlying issue corrected first, such as credentials, permissions, product matching, order state, carrier data or a marketplace API response.
  • Where the workflow supports it, corrected transfers can be replayed or manually re-run instead of starting the whole process from scratch.

Manual replay

  • Manual import is useful during onboarding, backfills, support checks and controlled reprocessing of specific records.
  • Replay still depends on correcting the underlying issue first, such as product matching, credentials, permissions or invalid source data.

FAQ

Common questions

How often are Fruugo orders imported?

The integration requests recent orders every 15 minutes and checks the previous 2 hours. The Shopify order is created after Fruugo returns the corresponding order response.

Why is a Fruugo order missing from Shopify?

Check that the order falls within the configured request window, that Fruugo returned the callback, and that its products can be matched. An unmatched item can block import when automatic product creation is disabled.

Why was a fulfilment not sent to Fruugo?

The Shopify order must be linked to Fruugo and remain eligible for shipment. When required, the fulfilment must also contain a tracking number and valid line quantities.

Why did a stock or price update not appear immediately?

Fruugo processes these updates asynchronously. Synchron.io records the update only as complete after Fruugo returns its later product response.

How do filters and options affect synchronisation?

Location filters, status rules, matching rules, VAT settings and other options decide which records are eligible and how values are sent. Review them whenever a valid record is consistently skipped or produces an unexpected amount.

What product data is most important?

Use consistent Shopify SKUs and accurate identifiers, categories, titles, images, weights and prices. Poor or missing product data can prevent matching or cause Fruugo catalogue validation errors.
